A group sail on a glorious fall afternoon.
A couple on a senior group trip.
Do you offer group rates?
We have hosted lots of groups on the Schooner Lannon. We find that Seniors,
students, and non-sailors alike love their time on the Lannon. Conveniently
berthed at the Gloucester House Restaurant, the Schooner Thomas E. Lannon offers
a safe, relaxing and FUN way to spend some time on the beautiful waters of Cape
Ann. A sail on the Lannon is not a "stand and stare" experience...help the crew
raise the sails, take a turn at the wheel...this is hands-on and FUN!
We are members of the American Bus Association and we love group travel! We
were featured on the Travel Channel's program "Fall Foliage in New England"
as a fun activity when you're in New England looking at the leaves.
Planning a group trip in 2010 or 2011? Make it easy on yourself. Schedule a trip on
the Lannon and a meal at the Gloucester House (known for their lobsterbakes,
fresh seafood and for being group-friendly). We tie up right outside their Cafe
Seven Seas, so boarding could not be easier. Motorcoach parking is available
on-site for groups dining at the Gloucester House.
Combine your sail with a visit to the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center
(two blocks away), the Cape Ann Museum (three blocks away), or the
Essex Shipbuilding Museum (in neighboring Essex) to extend the maritime theme of your
sail on the Lannon . There is also great shopping on Main Street (one block from
us) offering no malls, no outlets...just an eclectic variety of interesting
shops, galleries and eateries. Have you seen the Fisherman at the Wheel statue
and the cenotaph listing the names of the men who failed to return from their
fishing trips? How about the new Fisherman's Wife statue, to commemorate the
other side of the story? Both are located along Stacy Boulevard, overlooking
Gloucester Harbor. (Free). How about a tour of Beauport (the Sleeper-McCann House) or of
Hammond Castle (home of inventor John Hays Hammond, Jr.)? We're the locals. We
are happy to help you put
together a day in Gloucester that will make your group smile. Just ask.
We are offering a special in fall of 2010 for all our foliage groups: Why
not add a day in Gloucester to your New England foliage experience? From Sept.
20-Oct. 12, 2010, we are offering one-and a-half-hour sails at a discounted
rate for groups of 30 or more. Call us and we'll work out a
convenient time for your sail.

Group Rates for 2010
What's the difference between a private charter and a group rate?
The main difference is this. If you opt for the group rate (30 or more people)
and your group size is less than 49 (the capacity of the boat), we may sell additional tickets
to other people for that sail. So, there may be people sailing with your group
that you don't know. There is no food on our public group sails. Group rates are
usually, although not always, used by groups traveling by motorcoach.
If you charter the boat, your group will have the boat to yourselves. We will
set up a big table for you for your food. (We can help you with catering, you can
bring your own food, or we can serve you a lobsterbake with all the fixings). We
have actually chartered the boat to as few as 2 people, and to as many as 49.
Since we charter by the hour, the number of guests you bring is up to you. A
private charter is a little bit more special. If you are trying to put on a
party that is more of an event, a private charter is definitely the way to go.
Group Travel:
Groups love the Gloucester House
Restaurant. For seafood and lobsterbakes in a FUN atmosphere, your group has got
to experience a meal with Lennie. Owner Lennie Linquata is known for his
entertaining lobster "tales". Enjoy your meal at the Gloucester
House either before or after your
sail on the Lannon. The Lannon ties up right next to the Cafe Seven Seas at the
Gloucester House, so boarding could not be easier. Motorcoach parking is
available on-site for groups eating at the Gloucester House. Call the Lannon
office today to pick the date and time for your group sail.

Letters from happy group tour customers:
Dear Kay and Tom:
I just want to thank all of you for such a wonderful group
schooner charter we enjoyed yesterday morning. As you know, we were blessed with
a great day, with some winds, and bright sunny sky. All of our group members
were delighted with the cruise and have asked me to plan to repeat this event in
2006.
When I first began planning this trip, initial response was
slow, and I was concerned that our group size would barely attain minimum group
qualifications! But it soon caught on, and we ended up with our 49 passengers
and 12 people on our wait-list!
We have booked schooner cruises on a few different vessels in
New England, (in Bar Harbor and Boothbay Harbor) and yesterday's sailing
experience was the best yet, thanks to your great crew and your spirit of
cooperation. You can expect to see "Olde New England Tours" appearing on your
2006 roster of charter arrangers.
We operate on an average of one trip per week...and are always
looking for new ideas and itineraries...We repeat very few tour programs, but
Thomas E. Lannon is one we plan to re-do!
With deep appreciation for all your efforts on our group's
behalf.
James Keogh, President
Olde New England Tours
Hi Tom,
I just wanted to thank you again for allowing me to help the crew hoist the
sail and to be the helmsman for half an hour on my Elderhostel vacation during
the week of August 1st.
Using the natural power of the wind for propulsion is like downhill skiing
without ever having to climb the hill--a fantastically elegant concept.
Emboldened by the spirit of your boat, my imagination sailed back in time to an
era of bravery at sea. Then, my thoughts, flying as free as the wind blows,
landed in the future. I visualized spaceships, powered by solar wind, sailing
slowly and cost-effectively in the solar system.
My experience on your boat, the highlight of my vacation, will remain
engraved in my memory for a lifetime.
